To inherit outstanding traditional Chinese culture and promote the high-quality development of international Chinese language education, the 2026 International Chinese Language Day event for Tianjin institutions was held at Tianjin University of Science & Technology on April 18. Themed "Chinese Language: Illuminating Diverse Dreams", the event was guided by the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission and hosted by Tianjin University of Science & Technology and the Tianjin International Chinese Language Education Alliance. It attracted more than 270 Chinese and international teacher and student representatives from 17 institutions, including Nankai University, Tianjin University and Tianjin Normal University, building a bridge for cross-cultural exchange through a diverse range of activities.

The opening cultural performance was rich and varied. Tianjin Normal University brought a lively choral performance full of youthful energy; several institutions jointly performed classics such as "Jasmine Flower", evoking resonance throughout the audience; there were also distinctive Thai dance, graceful Chinese dance, lively and festive ethnic group dance, a moving original poetic recitation, and an enduring traditional folk music performance. The final piece, "Loved and Cherished" by Tianjin Maritime Vocational College, brought the atmosphere to a climax. The whole performance was rich in form and highly engaging, winning waves of applause. Taking a broader view of the development of international Chinese language education, Zhong Yinghua subsequently delivered remarks on the development of international Chinese language education and cultural exchange between Chinese and foreign languages, affirming Tianjin's active exploration and fruitful achievements in the field and expressing the hope that the event would further promote the spread of the Chinese language and mutual learning among civilizations.
