Students of the 2023 cohort Intellectual Property major and students of Classes 3 and 4 of the 2025 cohort Law major at the College of Humanities and Law of Tianjin University of Science & Technology visited the Patent Examination Cooperation Tianjin Center of the Patent Office of the State Intellectual Property Office (PECTCPO) on the afternoon of May 7, 2026. They took part in a practical course activity titled "Visiting the Patent Examination Cooperation Tianjin Center: Practical Exploration of the National Team of Patent Examination" as part of the Legal Career Planning and Internship course. As a compulsory element of the program, the activity used immersive visits and study to enable students to experience first-hand work on the front line of intellectual property protection and clarify their direction in legal careers.
During the activity, a series of vivid case displays made abstract intellectual property legal provisions concrete and tangible. From the core patents of national heavy equipment such as the Fuxing high-speed railway and the Chang'e-6 probe, to the intellectual property protection of the FAST radio telescope, to trademark protection for time-honored Tianjin brands and copyright protection for traditional culture such as the Yangliuqing New Year prints, these rich cases gave students a deep appreciation of the pivotal role of intellectual property law in scientific progress, cultural inheritance and industrial development. In the exhibition area on the annual themes of the World Intellectual Property Day, students reviewed thematic posters from previous years, tracing the evolution of global intellectual property protection concepts and further broadening their international perspective.
This practical activity is an important measure for the College of Humanities and Law to deepen practical teaching in the law program. Through immersive "theory plus practice" learning, students stepped out of the classroom and into the frontline, gaining a profound appreciation of the importance of intellectual property law as a "guardian" of innovation and development. In future, the College will continue to build high-quality practical platforms, helping law students enhance their professional competence through the integration of theory and practice, and contributing youthful strength to the building of a powerful intellectual property nation.
