On March 17, 2026, Ning Weihong, Director of the Regulations Division, and Wang Rui, Deputy Director, of the Tianjin Municipal Intellectual Property Bureau visited the College of Humanities and Law at Tianjin University of Science & Technology for research and exchange.
The College gave a detailed introduction to the Municipal Intellectual Property Bureau regarding the foundational strength and distinctive advantages of the University's law program. As the first institution in Tianjin to offer an undergraduate intellectual property major, and relying on its advantageous engineering disciplines in food science, bioengineering and chemical engineering, the University has a cultivation foundation marked by deep integration of "management plus engineering plus intellectual property". It has a blockchain intellectual property training centre, 24 internship bases covering the entire industrial chain, and an industry mentor pool of more than 40 members. At present, the University is actively integrating internal resources, making full preparations for the application to establish an intellectual property master's degree programme, and planning the construction of a Center for Comprehensive Governance of Intellectual Property in order to enhance the discipline's capacity to serve industry.
The Tianjin Municipal Intellectual Property Bureau affirmed the University's solid work and clear plans. The two sides conducted pragmatic discussions on a cooperation list covering disciplinary development, scientific research and talent cultivation. The Bureau expressed its willingness to engage in deep cooperation in supporting the master's programme application, providing data access for research, jointly building internship bases and an industry mentor pool, and exchanging personnel, with the aim of jointly strengthening the foundation of intellectual property talent development and serving regional innovation development.
This exchange is an important link in Tianjin University of Science & Technology's implementation of the "Pioneer Plan" and advancement of disciplinary and program development. In future, both sides will continue to drive the implementation of the cooperation agreement through pragmatic measures, and work together to build a high-quality talent cultivation system, developing the University into an important think tank and talent base supporting local economic and social development.
